April 14, 2009, Monthly Meeting

April 14, 2009

The Monthly Town Board meeting was called to order on Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at 7 p.m. by Chairman Tim Fletcher.

Present were Tim Fletcher, Bob Young, Dale Braunschweig, Randy Grebel, Vicki Baum, David Otto, Ron Woock, Darrell Pollesch, John Ganske, Arnie Oathout, Brad Marcoullier, Lavern Pieper, Harold Nitschke, Kenneth Nitschke, Merlin Pieper, Pat Ninmann, Ryan Kittell, Ran Butterbrodt, Kenneth Woock, and Debra Waldvogel.

The minutes of the March meeting were read by the Clerk. A motion was made by Braunschweig and seconded by Young to accept the minutes as read. Motion carried.

Chairman Fletcher read the meeting notice.

Brad Marcoullier from General Engineering explained their new fee structure for inspecting new homes by using the homes’ square footage. A motion was made by Braunschweig and seconded by Young to accept this new fee structure and to add a 10 percent minimum markup fee plus the $50 administrative fee for the Town to retain. Motion carried.

Pat Ninmann gave a report on how the Dodge County 9-1-1 system works. She said that 66 percent of the calls that came in last year were from cell phones and that the County has the ability to track where the call came from.

Chairman Fletcher opened the eight bids that he received for the Stone Cemetery mowing that ranged from $140 to $200 a time. A motion was made by Braunschweig and seconded by Young to accept the bid of $140 from Randy Grebel of Grebel’s Pump Service. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Young and seconded by Braunschweig to accept the Treasurer’s report. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Young and seconded by Braunschweig to pay all bills as presented. Ck # 22888 through Ck # 22920 for a total of $11,964.57. Motion carried.

Supervisors Young and Braunschweig examined the cancelled checks and compared them to the March bank statement.

A motion was made by Young and seconded by Braunschweig to adjourn at 8:35 p.m.

2009 Annual Meeting

April 13, 2009

The Town of Burnett Annual Meeting was called to order on Monday, April 13, 2009, at 7:30 p.m. by Chairman Tim Fletcher. The Pledge of Allegiance was said.

Twenty-nine people attended. Registration form is on file in the Clerk/Treasurer’s office.

Mark Yanke from Serwe Equipment explained their program to trade in our Town tractor for a new tractor and $5000 to boot.

The minutes of the 2008 Annual Meeting were read by the Clerk. A motion was made by Gary Backhaus and seconded by Lavern Pieper to accept the minutes as read. Motion carried.

The 2008 Financial Statement was read by the Clerk. A motion was made by David Otto and seconded by Gary Backhaus to accept the statement. Motion carried.

The Burnett Sanitary District report was read by Robert Peterson. A motion was made by Kenneth Woock and seconded by Ron Woock to accept the report. Motion carried.

The Stone Cemetery report was read by Dale Braunschweig. A motion was made by Kenneth Nitschke and seconded by Gary Backhaus to accept the report. Motion carried.

The Burnett Central Cemetery report was read by Don Peachey. A motion was made by Randy Schwark and seconded by Lavern Pieper to accept the report. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Vicki Baum and seconded by Gary Backhaus to continue the summer dump hours on Thursdays from 4 to 6 p.m. beginning on May 28 and ending on September 10. Motion carried.

A motion was made by David Otto and seconded by John Meylink to approve Horicon State Bank as the Town’s bank and the Local Government Investment Pool for the Town Equipment and Fire fund. Motion carried with one opposed.

Plans for this year’s road repairs were read by Supervisor Bob Young. A motion was made by David Otto and seconded by Kenneth Nitschke to accept the report. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Kenneth Nitschke and seconded by Kenneth Woock to allow an increase of $15,000 over the road budget if needed. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Gary Backhaus and seconded by Lavern Pieper to allow the Town Board to borrow up to $100,000 if necessary to carry on Town business. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Randy Schwark and seconded by Vicki Baum to continue paying the $1200 payments to Burnett Central and Burnett Union Cemeteries. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Clint Pieper and seconded by Philip Waldvogel to replace the damaged tables in the Hall. Motion carried.

A motion was made by David Otto and seconded by Philip Waldvogel to set the 2010 Annual Meeting for Monday, April 12, 2010, at 7:30 p.m. Motion carried.

A motion was made by John Meylink and seconded by Doug Ninmann to vote on whether to trade in the Town tractor for the new tractor from Serwes for $5,000 to boot. Motion carried. Results of the paper ballot vote were 17 yes; 12 no. The Town will make the trade.

A motion was made by Don Luck and seconded by Randy Schwark to adjourn at 9:45 p.m. Motion carried.
